The mystery is not so much the actual identity of the man in the portrait, who has been recognized as the grandson of Franz Josef Müller von Reichenstein, viz., Franz Leonhard Müller von Reichenstein (1819-1880), whose record is in the Austrian National Archives. The mystery is why the Austrian Government printed up a stamp with such a brazen error.
